Off Road Bikes

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Road Safety Issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as the new Neighbourhood Inspector for Stockton Outer, which includes your area. I’m deeply committed to addressing the issues that matter most to our communities, and I know that off‑road bikes continue to be one of the most frequently raised concerns.

We’ve already made strong progress in this area. I chair a monthly partnership meeting with the council and key agencies, including housing providers, where we share intelligence and take coordinated action against offenders. This can include pursuing traffic offences, seizing bikes, and in the most serious cases, taking tenancy enforcement action.

In addition, we run a monthly off‑road bike day of action, during which we follow up on every piece of information we receive. Community intelligence is absolutely vital to this work. Knowing who is riding these bikes and where they are being stored allows us to act quickly and effectively. I encourage anyone with information to report it via 101, the COPA app, or anonymously through Crimestoppers.

In the past month alone, my team has seized seven bikes, and we remain fully committed to tackling this issue with determination and consistency.
